Well after breaking 1" thick ice last Sunday and a load of rain on Friday. . Hopes weren't that high for today's match on the havannah flash near Parr in St Helens
Unusual for me I've drawn one of the end pegs ... peg 1... this peg hasn't been put in the matches so far this season so let's see how it goes
The wind was whistling down again so I decided to fish shortish at approx 6/7 metres with pinkie
After half an hour and no bite it didn't look good .. but then 2 small roach one after the other.. then another biteless 20 minutes before the next fish a small skimmer
It stayed like this all day.. fish then nothing for a period. . By the end of the match I've got about 40 small roach and skimmers for 1lb 13oz. .. which was a joint win with friend tony smith
A hard days fishing for not much of a result. . But a win is a win
Today's rigs : 4 x 12 chianti style float ( supplied by Tom Hardy floats ) 0.08 mainline with a 0.06 hooklength. . Size 22 hook with a 3's elastic. . Because of the strong winds I had a bulk shot approx 2/3rds down with 3 No 12 stotzs as droppers
Groundbait today was bait tech pro natural fine lake dark and Sensas black lake with a bit of terre de somme noire in.. a few handfuls of squatts in with a handful of dead pinkies to
Thanks to Stu Redman for a helpful tip.. it worked lol
A well earned break from fishing next weekend.

A bad day's fishing is still 100% better than a good day at work.
